We are pleased to let you know about several workshops we are hosting in partnership with Health, Social Care and Education.
Following on from the success of previous workshops and requests from parents to host new workshops in a number of different areas for the next year.

Applying for an Educational Health and Social Care Needs Assessment
Some children with special educational needs (SEN) in England need more help than a mainstream school, college or nursery would normally provide at the level of SEN support
These pupils may need support through an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
Children who needs are so complex may need to attend a Specialist setting which would require an EHC plan to be in place.
Asking for an EHC needs assessment
When should a local authority carry out an EHC needs assessment?
If a local authority (LA) is requested to carry out an EHC needs assessment by a parent, young person, school or college, it must consider:
- whether the child or young person has or may havespecial educational needs (SEN); and
- whether they mayneed special educational provision to be made through an EHC plan.
If the answer to both of these questions is yes, the LA must carry out an EHC needs assessment.
This test is set out in the law (section 36(8) of the Children and Families Act 2014)The SEN and Disability Code of Practice 2015 (the Code), which is statutory guidance issued by the government, contains further detail on what LAs should consider.
